Went through activity stuff here:viewtopic.php?f=67&t=93181but my "desktop settings" does not have the cashew selection for changing the name. All activities are "new activity"-ies. The settings only give me "view" and "mouse actions". Bug or some inadvertent setting I've made?

actually (at least in 4.6.3) renaming is quite easy and uses the activities manager (no longer the cashew)
1) open the activities manager alt+d, alt+a 2) click the configure icon on the activity to rename (the wrench on the bottom right corner) 3) left click the name box (now has a white background) and edit 4) click apply to save the new name |

Much better!! Perhaps until a new animated GIF gets created, a simple "on later versions of KDE we've developed a new and better method: look for the wrench on the activities panel". *sigh*. I'd have still been nice if there were a cashew on the desktop settings and it said, "we've moved it." But I don't write GUI code..... Thank you so much. Regards, Bruce |

Yes yes, I'll fix that before 4.7 is released... No, seriously I will. Hopefully.

And I hope I won't have reason to need to see it. But thank you so much for those GIFs. Very helpful. Just name the link, "renaming for KDE plasma prior to 4.6" and add the text "afterwards, use the wrench on the activities panel". That really ought to be good enough until you have some of that "copious free time" I've heard about. |
