"Lock" wallpaper onto the desktop?

Tue Jul 19, 2011 12:47 pm
Hello,

I'm using KDE 4.4.5 with 2 monitors (extended desktop mode). I managed to put different desktop wallpapers on each desktop (and each monitor), by configuring Multiple Desktops > Different activity for each desktop. That's great!

However, is there a way of "locking" desktop wallpaper so it doesn't move when I click&drag (mostly accidentally) on the desktop? It's driving me mad ;-)

[edit] I noticed that all the wallpapers on all the desktops (4 desktops on 2 monitors = 8 wallpapers) get moved up and left by about 50 pixels every time I change the desktop switching method(!) Multiple Desktops > Switching > Animation
That's quite annoying.. :-\
[/edit]

thanks

The wallpaper should not move when clicking and dragging: I certainly didn't see this in 4.6, 4.7 betas, or trunk. How did you set it?

Also, which distribution are you using?

In "Desktop Activity Settings" I have Wallpaper type: Image, Positioning: Scaled & Cropped (but I saw the same behaviour with Scaled, keep proportions and Centered). I'm on Ubuntu 10.04.2 LTS.

Now I tested it again and it seems that my Activity was zoomed out, but still showing whole wallpaper ??? and that's why it moved when dragged. After I zoomed in, it's no longer possible to drag&move the wallpaper. I'm confused.

I would suggest you to upgrade your KDE version if possible, as many of such annoyances have been fixed.
