Hello,

I am using ARMEDSlackware-current, i can't add any widget to the panel

Right click on panel, Panel Options, Add Widgets...

All the button are non-responsive, included the search bar, the All Widgets button, Running button, Categories, Accessibility, even the Get New Widgets and the CLOSE button are not working too!

i can't press everything, i can only drag the box

Any solutions?

Thanks

is this a new install? was it working earlier? did you recently do an upgrade?

if you open ~/.kde4/share/config in Dolphin do the permissions for the files start with -rw and the folders drw and are you owner of all the files/folders?

can you create a new user and does that new user have the same problem?

This is a new install, and i DON'T KNOW that have i meet the dependence.(Installation won't check the problems, it just install, i managed lots of dependence problem after i installed KDE)
And now i am using a root account, so permission should not a problem.
PS: ~/.kde4 does not exists, but ~/.kde exists, i ls -l ~/.kde/share/config, and all files are -rw-------, folders are drwxr-xr-x

Thanks for your help

fyi some distro's use ~/.kde, others ~/.kde4 - I thought you were use Arch for some reason which I believe uses .kde4

no idea about Slackware, when you installed did you select the KDE set? http://www.slackware.com/install/softwaresets.php

could you rename your subject to emphasize it is Slackware and a new install

are you also experiencing other issues?

have you looked at slapt-get? it does some dependency checking http://software.jaos.org/git/slapt-get/plain/README

Hmm.. yes, Slackware are not accurate, it should me ARMEDSlack, i download the packages from the FTP, and run installpkg <package name>
and yes, i am experience another issue, i can't modify my "System Administration" settings (Include Date&Time, font Installer, Login Screen, Startup and Shutdown, Task Scheduler), when i modify the settings, i hit apply, then try to press the "Back" icon, I hit apply again, i got:
Code: Select all
Unable to authenticate/execute the action: (code 2)

I tried to compile PAM for my machine, and installed to the machine, no luck, do i need to modify settings in PAM to use KDE?

Any solutions?

Thanks.

would suggest you look/post on ARMEDSlack mailing list http://lists.armedslack.org/mailman/listinfo/armedslack (may need to use "site:http://lists.armedslack.org kde" in Google search box). doesn't seem to be an official forum for Slack or ARMEDSlack but there are sub subforum on some sites.

curious what hw are you running? maybe you should start a thread like what's best distro for an arm based device

HTC HD2 :D

So no possible solution now?
I tried compile PAM (its after the installation of KDE), so do i need to modify any config?

Is there any log file i can figure out what happened? (I tried /var/log/kdm.log, syslog)

Any possible libraries not yet installed?

Thanks

really you need to start a new thread stating you're looking to install KDE on an Android device and ask for suggestions - I'm thinking this is not a trivial task, nor a task many are familiar with

I found this forum and it has a thread on installing Kubuntu on your device (Kubuntu has dependency checking so that should be a big help) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=903977
