Hello.
Recently some icons refuse to appear in the system tray. The ones that still appear changed from colored to grey. KDE version is 4.6.5-3 from debian unstable. Two of the missing ones are from UIM and amule-gui. An image: Edit: The value of the visibility field doesn't seems to matter. Edit2: Well... Looking for help... Please, thanks and so... |

It looks like they're still there, just not visible. Is that correct? You can try to click to the left of the monochrome icons.

can you create a new user and see if that user experiences this?
did you recently update? change theme, colors or icons? is this missing system tray icons limited to non-kde apps? try running

the "kbuildsycoca4" thing didn't help, but it works with a new user.
I can rename my .kde dir and reconfigure some things... Too much years, too much updates... Maybe it's time to clean it. Thanks. |

removing .kde and starting fresh is a bit drastic
alternatives to try: - clear your cache
- remove system tray widget and re-add it - remove panel and add new default one - move plasma rc files and start with defaults
- move the ~/.kwin* files |

I had the same problem for quite a while.
The problem was this entry in plasma-desktop-appletrc:
When I removed the entry, the problem was solved. Maybe the activityId was the problem. |

An entry which has "activityId=No such object path '/ActivityManager/Activities'" in it is totally invalid.
Removing it, without Plasma Desktop running is the correct course of action in this case. Did you generate this under KDE 4.10? If so, it may be worth a bug report.
