I've been having this problem off and on since at least 4.3, and now it's happening again since 4.7.

My plasma widgets don't stay where I tell them. I put them somewhere, log out, log in, and they've moved.

This time, it's on my panel. I have:
- lancelot
- Quickacces
- pager
- task manager
- system tray

Every time I log in, the pager and task manager go far left, everything else goes to the right. I have to unlock and reorder them.

I tried removing everything from the panel and starting over, but that didn't fix it. To make matters worse, every time I try to add back the tray plasma crashes.

Anyone else had this problem? Anyone know how to deal with it (and don't tell me to delete my .kde folder for the umpteenth time).

maybe something in your plasma is corrupt, you could consider moving your plasma config files and starting fresh

Code: Select all
kquitapp plasma-desktop
 sleep 20s
 mkdir -p $HOME/plasma-config/
 mv $(kde4-config --localprefix)/share/config/plasma-desktop* $HOME/plasma-config/
 plasma-desktop &

less drastic but not as complete would be to remove the panel and add a new on

I think it's probably a multi-monitor bug. I don't think KDE wants me to have a tray on each screen; if I leave the second tray off, it seems to be behaving.

This ran fine under 4.6 and previous, wonder why it doesn't work now.

you could check bugs.kde.org and if nothing already is reported file a bug
