I tried out kde4 about a year ago, and found this cool desktop sticky notes thingy that had a transparent background. I liked it so much, I decided to switch to kde when I had some time. ;D

Now that I've switched, I can't find the thing again. Aargh. It's not under Add Widgets, that I can see. And when I go to Get More Widgets I can't find it under either the Plasma section or Google Gadgets. I've been combing the web for about two days now. I know I'm going to have missed something obvious, but I've had to give up and ask.

I'm heartbroken. Please help!

Try to install kdeplasma-addons. (You'll only find scripted widgets in Get More Widgets, there are also binary ones on e.g. http://kde-apps.org.)

Yesss!! Thank you, thank you. That was it. After installing, I right-clicked on the desktop to "Add Widget", chose "Notes" which now appeared in the mass of new widgets, and in preferences for the widget, selected translucent background.

Perfect.

By the way, welcome to KDE!
