This appears to be an OpenSuse related bug and not necessarily KDE - but since google01103 and others using that particular OS on this forum haven't experienced it I'd go along with the solved problem in the OpenSuse forum.
And no, you will not lose any of your mozilla settings. I suggest you have a look at the contents of your ~ folder, especially the . files and folders. You can always give your ~/.kde(4) folder another name such as ~/.kde(4).bak or whatever for testing purposes. Let us know how you get on

Bah - that is unfortunate. I take it you did it outside of a KDE/KDM session and then started KDM again to log in? If you did, all I can suggest is going to the OpenSuse forum where more people might have experienced your particular problem...
So, back to google01103 it is

while session not running and as you:
- clean/remove your KDE cache and temp folders (/tmp/KDE-usersname & /var/tmp/kdecache-user_name). - delete the file ~/.config/Trolltech.conf - run the command: kbuildsycoca4 --noincremental note: cache and temp are links so renaming ~/.kde doesn't have any affect they just get relinked to |

ok, renaming kde4 from twm did not work either.
I then renamed it and did as above (mv for the different files to xxx_old ) and now it's ok , i'ma able to boot without segfault , cool ;=) Ok i have a question : which session shall i use for kde : i have the choice between : - default (i chose kde when installing) - kde plasma workspace - espace de travail plasma (translation of the above choice) is there any difference amongst these choices ?

Glad the issue got sorted
You'd be a great help to others if you wrote down the steps you took and mark the thread as solved.

Twm is another gui, it's default in opensuse.
As above meant the message directly above (it'd be nice to have a message number in order to be more precise without quoting all the time) : "while session not running and as you: - clean/remove your KDE cache and temp folders (/tmp/KDE-usersname & /var/tmp/kdecache-user_name). - delete the file ~/.config/Trolltech.conf - run the command: kbuildsycoca4 --noincremental note: cache and temp are links so renaming ~/.kde doesn't have any affect they just get relinked to " The files are the ones you mentionned in this same message, i did not erase them , but renamed them using the mv command
