I recently accidentally deleted my folderview widget from my kubuntu lucid (10.10) desktop.
When I re-added it, everything was as expected except the background was black instead of transparent like it was before I deleted it. How can I get the transparency back? I see how to select another color background, but don't see transparent as a choice. |

Can you provide a screenshot please?
It shouldn't be black - as mine has black selected and it is transparent.

Does it stay black if you resize it? If so, can you try quitting plasma, then removing /var/tmp/kdecache-YOURUSERNAME/plasma* and then restart Plasma? (That will clean the theme cache and force Plasma to regenerate it).
If that's not the case: can you check in System Settings, under Workspace Appearance, if your theme is set to customized, or has customized bits?

Thank you. I haven't seen those commands before.
Unfortunately, the rest of KDE died on that install (undoubtedly for unrelated reasons) and after trying to fix it for awhile, I just installed oneiric in another partition and am moving ahead with that, so I am unable to pursue this issue any further. I will refer back to this if I encounter a similar problem in the future. Thanks again. Joe |
