no, not correct - it should be in the upper right corner and on my system if the panel is on top and maximized there is no text with the cashew

did this just happen? after and upgrade?

version of KDE?

if you move the panel to the bottom does the cashew move to where it should? if so then move it back and see if that fixes it. if not does a new/different user have this problem?

never tried panel on top, I can't say when this happen, is the first time with this placement.

I have KDE 4.8 with ubuntu 11.10.

moving the panel, left, right and bottom don't solve the problem.

you could try reseting your plasma desktop to the default which would resolve the problem if it is a corrupted config file
Code: Select all
kquitapp plasma-desktop
 sleep 20s
 mkdir -p $HOME/plasma-config/
 mv $(kde4-config --localprefix)/share/config/plasma-desktop* $HOME/plasma-config/
plasma-desktop &

or place the panel on bottom and then restart KDE

Found the problem, try to create a new activity (Desktop icon).
