search and launch desktop is blank....how to enable it again??

version of KDE?

Are you creating a new s&l activity or is an existing one that no longer works?

do other Activity templates also come up blank?

If it worked and now doesn't did you recently do an upgrade?

Does it work for a new/different user?

Hey, i've got the same problem, have you found a solution yet?
I'm using Netrunner Linux v4.1, KDE v4.8. All other activities work just fine, but this one is empty. It doesn't work since I installed the OS, even before updating from 4.7.4 to 4.8.
I'd appreciate it if you could give me a solution, I'm really starting to like KDE (started using it yesterday)

I had the problem, too. Reason was that the widgets had been locked while creating the search and launch activity.

To fix this:
1. Make sure widgets are unlocked.
2a. create then the activity
-or-
2b. In your blank activity you can click on the desktop and choose 'configure search and launch' (the last menu entry in the context menu). In the appearing dialog (where you can select the wallpaper, too) you can select the layout 'search and launch'.
