Taskbar? Panel?

Hello
Can someone tell me please the differnce between a Taskbar and a Panel in KDE? Thanks.

The taskbar is a widget that shows your current tasks. It's usually placed in a panel.
The panel is something that can contain other widgets and is usually not covered by windows. See http://userbase.kde.org/Plasma/Panels and http://userbase.kde.org/Plasma/Tasks for more information.
