Howdy folks, long-time KDE-user, first-time poster here. I'm quite pleased with the way KDE4 has matured, and I particularly like the desktop effects that obviate the need for compiz...mostly.
The utility isn't quite up to the same standard, yet, in a couple of respects, as I understand it: 1) The cube lacks an option to launch with mouse+metakey. With that option, I found the cube in compiz to be the most natural way to switch and browse my desktops, but without it, I simply haven't been able to integrate the cube into my workflow. 2) The water drop effect in compiz is an aesthetically pleasing way to find the cursor, moreso than the ring of stars in KDE, but also very handy in presentations because the ripple effect trails the mouse, highlighting a section of the screen without obscuring it too much. Some alternate effect might be equally useful, it's not the ripple per se that I miss. Alas, I am no programmer myself, to contribute these effects to the project. Is there some means by which I can add my vote to any other who favor these feature additions? Thank you, GEF |

Yes, the Brainstorm forum here. Please list the ideas separately so they can be voted on and approved separately.
