Import Qif for investments

Wed May 09, 2012 3:51 am
Hi I am trying to import investment transactions from a Qif file. KMyMoney imports everything correctly except that related brokerage account information isn't imported. Here's the sample I am using -

!Type:Invst
D03/04/2013
NDiv
YShell
T29.69
L[Registered Accounts:RESP Brokerage]
$29.69
^

When I import this, it correctly recognizes it as a dividend transaction for Shell but instead of using" RESP Brokerage" as the associated account it shows up in the interest field. Is this a bug in KMyMoney or something wrong with the Qif file ? Would appreciate a sample of dividend import transaction so that I can write a script to massage the data.

If it helps I am using KMyMoney 4.8.2 on Arch Linux 3.3.2-1

Thanks,
Vikram

If the transaction is read into the investment account, the dividend will automatically go the the brokerage account. You don't need the line
    L[Registered Accounts:RESP Brokerage]

OK. Did you tell KMM into which [investment] account to import the data through the dialog box? I for one could not get the QIF specifier !Account to work.
Other thing, normally the word Brokerage is in parenthesis in the account name. Did you try adding parentheses in the QIF file? Make sure the names match. You can also try using just the name of the investment account.

You have to specify which account to use while importing so I specified the investment account. I used exactly the same name as the brokerage account in Qif thats not it either. FYI - I also tried using just the name of the investment account - it just imports it but no linkage to brokerage acccount :(
