For some time, I have had issues with reconciling my bank account in kMyMoney. The starting account balance never matched my bank statement, so I ignored. I simply entered the correct balance and made sure the total debits/credits matched my bank statement when I finished.
Now, I have a much bigger problem that I can't seem to workaround. The newest update of kMyMoney (4.6.1) on kubuntu 12.04 won't let me update the starting balance in reconcile at all...it is greyed out. Is there any way to fix this issue and reset my starting balance? I would like to get back to par...or at a bare minimum get back to my workaround approach mentioned in the first paragraph. |

You should edit the account (right-click on the account name) and enter the beginning balance. Make sure it corresponds to the balance given on your bank statement on the creation date of the account in the same menu. This beginning balance will show up as the first line of the account ledger. I can change that line in an older version, but even if you cannot, you always have access to it in the edit-account menu. |
