Hi,
I've migrated all my personal finance data (since begin 2007) to kmm. Overall, this was a smooth experience, and I love the possibility to execute awk scripts on csv-statements (much better than OFX import!!!). However, as a result I now have over 4000 transactions in my checking account, and all operations involving that account have become really slow (usually any interaction takes about 2-3 seconds to complete). All other accounts are snappy. what's the best way to improve this? Should I move some years to an "archive" account? Or is there some standard practice what to do with historical data? Thanks! |

Which type of interaction do you mean? Reports? I have 5340 transactions in my checking account and would be interested in comparing. I still use KMM 1.0.5.

I expect you don't see this behavior in KMyMoney 1.0.x. The idea about a backup account would help to speed up the data entry through the ledger. The more global solution to the problem is a rewrite of the ledger code and a few other parts of the application which I have in mind for a long time. It's a matter of low resources (time-wise) on my end to get started

Simply selecting the account in the homepage: it takes 5 seconds till the ledger is shown.
After modifying the memo of a transaction, it again takes 5 seconds after pressing Enter till the ledger is accessible. For a backup account, the problem is maintenance: after 1-2 years, I'll need to move more transactions into the backup account, but then I'll need to adjust transfer between the two accounts, a source for errors... |

Ipwizard is correct; this is definitely not an issue in 1.0.5. Thanks.

So what would I miss out on if I went to 1.0.5 (I don't use online banking, but the qif-importer with awk-script on windows?
Would it be better to store the data in sql? |

You can define a filter for QIF imports in 1.0.5. I tried it at some time, using sed. No reason for awk not to work. No idea about sql.
