Recent install attempt of KMyMoney 4.6.2 on MacPorts failed due to incompatibility between 4.6.2 and Qt 4.8.

Question:

What is recommended "make clean" of this failed install before attempt of re-install with "kmymoney4-devel"?

Is this sufficient?...

> sudo port -v uninstall kmymoney4

Any other steps required to clear out any other remnants? Want to make ensure no conflict with new install of kmymoney4-devel.

I found where changeset 94379 added the ui_error to flag incompatibility, but did not find direction on cleanup after error event.

Thanks for your help!

There's no uninstall or cleanup necessary since the port kmymoney4 won't install currently.

Just install kmymoney4-devel.

Right now I am testing 4.6.3 and I hope this will bring the stable version back to life on macports again.

OK, good to know--after 3+ hour unpack/compile, I wasn't sure of state of kmymoney code.  Sounds like only dependents installed at time of error.

I'll try -devel version now.

Thanks for getting back, I appreciate it.

Since yesterday the 4.6.3 release should be installable through MacPorts. (I hope it does for you!)

I successfully tested it on Snow Leopard and the buildbot built it also for Lion w/o trouble.

So, check that out before trying the devel-version!
(But if you want to stay at the tip of KMM development I recommend installing kmymoney4-devel.)

OK, kmymoney4-devel installed successfully (did this a day or two ago).

However, this crashes during bring up.

Looks like issue with drkonqi.  Is this a known issue?

I can provide crash report if you'd like.

I will try the new 4.6.3 release next.

Do I need to uninstall -devel before install of 4.6.3?

Thanks!

You can simply deactivate kmymoney4-devel and then install kmymoney4 using
Code: Select all
sudo port deactivate kmymoney4-devel
sudo port install kmymoney4

which would give you the opportunity to switch back and forth between the two versions by (de)activating them according to your liking, i.e. if you want to try kmymoney4-devel again
Code: Select all
sudo port deactivate kmymoney4
sudo port activate kmymoney4-devel

Yes, please send a console log and let me know which OSX version you're using.
Also, it would be best if you could file a ticket through http://trac.macports.org/newticket, giving other KMM-users on MacPorts the opportunity to follow its status. Usually these MacOSX-specific questions are best discussable there and it looks like that in your case. Only if it is clearly a KMM-issue I tend to return to KMM's mailing list, this forum or http://bugs.kde.org.

If you are on Lion it might be interesting for you to read this ticket http://trac.macports.org/ticket/34919#comment:9 which suggest to check your directory permissions:
I just installed kmymoney4-devel and initially kmymoney.app crashed for me. I rebooted and got a different crash from kmymoney.app with a bunch of /var/log/system.log entries about write failures to ~/Library/Preferences/KDE.

After recursively changing the owner of ~/Library/Preferences/KDE to my username kmymoney is launching for me.

I am afraid that you're running into the same permission issue...
