window size

New to forum and I think this is a simple question but I can't figure it out. A serch turned up no results unless I used the wrong question :o

I am using KMyMoney 4.6.2 with KDE Development Platform 4.8.4 (4.8.4). This is according to help, about. I am running on aptosid 64-bit, kernel linux 3.5-4.slh.1-aptosid-amd64. computer is home built, AMD Phenom II x4 955 with 12 g ram.

I previously used KMyMoney on the wheezy distro of debian with no problems. Everything worked fine with aptosid at the beginning but now there is a minor problem. When I open the program the opening window is the correct width but the height is very small, it show on the line that says "Assets and Liabilities Summary". Then I stretch it to the correct height. The correction is not saved. I have opened the file ~/.kde/share/config/kmymoneyrc and adjusted the height after closing the program but upon restarting I get the old size and the file is overwritten. I have renamed the file and restarted the program with no rc file and I get the same size window and the file will not take the changes.

Any suggestions or info on what I might have missed would be greatly appreciated. The rest of the program is good and I really like it. I moved to this from Quicken which I ran on wine after switching to Linux but with KMyMoney I could finally quit using my last windows program ;D ;D

I'm not very familiar with xfce. Does it have some kind of window rules, that force the window to a particular dimension?
