Missing help files

Thu Apr 25, 2013 6:19 pm
I have installed Kmymoney on Linux Mint Debian Mate edition but when selecting the Learn how to use option KDE Help centre opens but there is no information under Kmymoney. The Kmymoney handbook appears to be missing. Any help please, the version is 4.6.2

You might want to try searching for a kmymoney-doc package or similar - many distributions separate out the documentation to save disk space and speed up downloads.

Alternately, you can also try docs.kde.org.

Help and other non-arch dependent files were moved to its own package in Debian and derivatives.
Also, if possible, try to use 4.6.3, since 4.6.2 is outdated.

The kmymoney-common package is installed.

I have tried to download the 4.6.3 deb from the mirrors but Gdebi is reporting an error Dependancy is not satisfiable: kmymoney 4.6.3-1

sounds like you have 3.6.2 installed, you need either the 4.6.2 common pkg to match what's installed or the 4.6.3 app to match the common you're trying to install.

I have many KDE applications that are missing help files. And the online KDE help centre is a bit of a nightmare. For most it's OK, just suck it and see, that being one of the points of GUI apps. For others, like kdevelop, it's much better to walk in with your eyes open. Perhaps help centre could be improved with a link to view the help online, or download the files? It really makes life so much more productive.

you're probably missing a pkg, it helps to know what you're running but in my distro it would seem to be kmymoney-doc that is needed
