Updates work differently in openSUSE

Fri Aug 16, 2013 12:26 pm
I just migrated from Windows 7 to openSUSE 12.3 and it was pretty painless.
However one thing in KMyMoney, works differently, and not for the better. I hope it is just a setting that I can fix.

The "Update all accounts" stops after each update and asks me again for the password.

Under Windows it would update them all with only 1 password entry.
This is troublesome as there are about 12 accounts being updated.

Can I fix this ?

Thanks

Do you have KWallet enabled?

Which update method (online protocol) do you use for the update?

I do now. Though it didn't seem to make a difference. I am new to this Linux game and still fumbling my way through.
I did a search for Kwallet and got 2. KdeWallet and KWallet Manager. I started KdeWallet and enabled KDE wallet which was unabled.
What's weird is that when I click on KWallet Manager, it does nothing that I can see.
I then started KMyMoney and got a different prompt about using the wallet system but it still asked for each password.
Apparently the passwords did not get stored in the wallet. Maybe I need to edit account and save them again.
I will try that but please talk me through the steps needed to start using it. thanks

During an account edit, I see a checkbox about saving the password. DOH, it was not checked because the wallet was not running.
Let's see now.

What did you do to make it work?

I apologize that it took me so long to reply but I just had to do it again and I came here looking to see what I had done.
I had a hard disk crash and had to reload KMyMoney. I had thought that opening a backup file and it would have retained all my passwords, but as it says, they are stored in the wallet not in KMyMoney.
Anyhow, what I had to do was to go to each account, edit it, and mark it to "store the password". After that, all was well.

Thanks for the info. It's important so others can try the same if they find the problem.
