Migrating kmymoney

Fri Nov 01, 2013 3:15 am
With openSUSE 13.1 coming, I am planning to upgrade via reinstall.
How to take care of kmymoney? I do not seem to find relevant info on user manual.

Is the "user name.kmy" file enough?
I assume it is also necessary to do an export when I am currently in openSUSE 12.3. In File -> Export -> QIF, shall I simply export Asset (there are multiple accounts under Assets) and Liability. i.e. export 2 files in total.
After completion upgrading to openSUSE 13.1 I shall do a File -> Import for the 2 files (Asset and Liability).

Or do I need to do a File -> Backup? What to do after completion upgrading OS?

Thank you. ;D

Very much the same question has today been posted on the users list.

In case you haven't seen it, or still need an answer, you only need to move your .kmy files, and the configuration file as follows:
$KDEHOME/share/config/kmymoneyrc. If you've made use of the CSV importer and/or exporter, these plugins also have their config files in the same location (csvimporterrc and csvexporterrc).

Thank you for info.
I am unsure if the mentioned files refer to config only (e.g. front page config, categories, custom reports, etc).
I would like to know if those files include also the data (e.g. historic balances, networth, historic ledgers, etc).
I would mail to the user list as well.

All financial information is contained in the .kmy file.
The config files only contain preferences like color settings, price precision, etc. All those you can find under the Settings... menu.
