qif imports

Sat Jan 11, 2014 9:14 pm
I am trying to get KMyMoney working. I am switch from, a Microsoft xp machine with Microsoft Money, to a Fedora 17 machine, KMyMoney. When I import a qif file such as a checking account the search-n-match feachure creats new accounts, usually all asset accounts, form the payees in the checking account. My question is: How can the search-n-match feature be shut off ?

I doubt you can turn it off. However, if your accounts are set up properly before you import, you should not have any problems. Account names are usually in square brackets on lines starting with L or S. Make sure the header of the QIF file is correct. An example:
Code: Select all
!Type:Bank
D01.01.2001
T 1000.00
CX
POpening Balance
L[PIGGYBANK]
