new import

Mon Jan 13, 2014 5:57 pm
hi

finally fed up q/ quicken. it is tooooo sllooooooow to use.

I have installed kmymoney 4.6.4 , started a new file and imported the .QIF export from my quicken file.

i have one checking account that i primarily use. If i can get this going , everything else ( a considereable amount) could be sacrificed for the sake of progress.

My current balance in quicken is about 9k. Kmymoney, after the import, says i am in the hole 19k. THis is a 30k difference.
I would rather deal w/ quicken than research a discrepancy of this magnitude.

This bank account is simple stuff, make deposits, spend money. I do have cross account xfers.
I do notice there are MANY unreconciled transactions sprinkled throughout the account history. Quicken is reconciled up to november 2013 w/ no non reconciled transactions above 11/13.

Does anyone have any thoughts on what I might have done wrong?
I would be open to trying a different export. I couldnt make the qfx work. kmymoney wants a qfx. I have a qxf. whats that about?

thanks in advance

Make sure the opening date of your account in KMM is prior to the first imported transaction. I'm not sure, but it might skip transactions older than the opening date.
Otherwise, check the format of transaction values (lines starting with T in the qif file). If amounts are in the form X,XXX.XX, check if that's imported properly. If needed, get rid of the thousand separators, or reformat to your OS locale. Defining an import filter is one way of doing so.
