openSUSE 12.3
KDE 4.10.5 KMyMoney 4.6.4 The transaction is a sale of a security in an IRA account with the proceeds going into my bank account. It seems like I would need 3 entries like this: 1) Sell the security in IRA with the proceeds going into the account IRA(Brokerage). 2) Transfer the proceeds from IRA(Brokerage) into Bank of America. This keeps the accounts in balance but I would also like to code #2, the transfer as an IRA distribution but there is no place to code that. The entries I can make are: a) Pay to,,,which I code as BofA b) Transfer to,,,,which I code as the BofA account. Is there any way to do this ? I was looking at the budget for income and there is one titled INCOME\RETIREMENT INCOME\IRA DISTRIBUTIONS and this is I would like the #2 transfer to appear. thanks |

Hi gcash,
From a double-entry bookkeeping side this entry does not show in your budget as it does not change your cash flow (you moved the money only "from one hand to the other"). If you want it to show up in the budgets, you have to trick a bit. Your sale must book to an category (and will show there in your reports/budgets). Create a new transaction in your BofA account again with a category. So both transactions are not connected in any way from an accountant's (or KMyMoney's) point of view. |
