I'm setting up a new account and want a specific order for the Expense and Income categories. When I enter them they are automatically put in alphabetical order. How do I get them to stay in the order I enter them? Thanks!

Since categories are sorted by their name in the views in which they are rendered you could only do that by indexing the category names (the same applies to accounts).
That would give you 100 ordered categories at a level. I know the solution sounds unfriendly but this is the first time I heard of this kind of request.

This sounds fine. How do I do it? I cannot find the indexing feature you mention. Sorry if I'm being dense. Thanks.

The suggestion is to manually change the name of the categories, adding a number at front to sort them the way you like it best

Thanks -- that I can do. I was looking for "indexing". I also appreciate the tip of starting with 01 rather than 1 (which I tried -- and works for 9 categories, then 10 precedes 1). This should work. Thanks for solving my problem!
