Hi all,
I am using Kmymoney for last 1 year.
I encrypted the file using GPG. I didnt backup the keys but i remember the password.
I had to format my system and i lost the keys. Now i cannot open my file.
Is there any way to open the file?
Thanks

Yes, there is, if you also encrypted your data using the KMyMoney recovery key (this option can be found encryption settings).

If this is the case please email your file to Thomas Baumgart (you can do that using the about dialog) and he will be open it using the recovery key and, after asking you a few questions to make sure it's really your data, will send it back to you. If you can't find Thomas' email just send a mail to the users list (kmymoney@kde.org).

If you are not sure that you used the recovery key you can find out using these steps. The Id of the recovery key is 59B0F826D2B08440

That's only the key fingerprint, not the key itself. It's not sufficient to decrypt data.
Did you look for the recovery key thing?

I'm working on the KDevelop IDE.

What's important is whether you encrypted the file including KMyMoney's key or not. It's an optional step, and you can verify using Cristian's link above.

If you did not include KMyMoney's key when encrypting the file, unfortunately there's nothing we can do to help you decrypt it if you have lost your GPG key.

Unfortunately, I just checked your file in the moderation queue, and it's encrypted only with your own key, not the KMyMoney rescue key.

There's nothing we can do to decrypt it.
