Hello
I'm pleased to say that i'm in the process of migrating from the Win7 world to the Linux world [ i'm still hugely newbie here in Linux-land, but it's kinda fun & exciting]. Tonight i installed my first KMM-KDE version, having happily used the marvellous KMM in Windows for the past few years. My Mint 17 Qiana KDE Synaptic efficiently installed KMM 4.6.4, & it looks like it's working fine, with my correct data file. However visually it sort of hit me in the face because some years ago i'd customised my Win7 KMM into the right aesthetics for me [colours, fonts etc] & become completely used to it, so when i saw the default config tonight it was a bit of a shock. Rather than me having to manually establish all my settings from scratch again in Linux [even if i can remember them all], is it possible for me to copy a config file(s) from the Windows version [i've dual-booted my pc now so i can still boot back into Win7 to get program / config files if needed] & paste it in whatever KDE partition is appropriate? That would be a much more efficient way for me to get my new KDE KMM back to the look & feel that i like. Thank you. Steffie. |

Theoretically you could copy the configuration file from you Windows machine located at
to your Linux machine
although I can't say for sure that I will work.

Hi Cristian
Wow, such a fast reply; thank you. Actually i was just coming back to update my original Post, but you beat me! I was going to say pls not to bother with my Post coz i've just finished manually customising KMM-KDE now anyway; it didn't take long & it was good to re-evaluate if i really did wish to have a "fresh start" with my config anyway. Gosh KMM is good!! Steffie. |

Hi Cristian ... i've been fully-Linux for ~2 years now, but your old advice above just came in handy again for me. Very recently i migrated one of my two PCs from Mint 17.3 KDE4 to Mint 18 Xfce+Compiz [pretty impressive too; Compiz has given me lots of my nice KWin eye candy / desktop effects with much lower overhead], installed KMM 4.8.0 onto it via PPA, copied across my KMM data file, but wondered why the GUI looked so "shocking" to me after years of familiarity with "my" usual KMM "look". Then i vaguely recalled you told me something about the config file location a couple of years ago, found this thread, & voila; problem solved. So, 2 years down the track, thank you again. |
