Following a company takeover one of my investments switched to Euros. Dividend payments are in Euros and these are paid directly into my Bank account which is in GBP.

The dividend total in Euros is 1.87 of which 0.43 is tax leaving 1.44 net.

This equates to a payment of 1.17 GBP into my bank account (exchange rate conversionto GBP: 1.52 total less 0.35 tax).

I want to enter the dividend in KMyMoney which results in a 1.17 GBP payment into my bank account.

This is the process to create the initial Dividend transaction:

- open the Ledger
- select "Dividend" activity
- choose the "Security" and "Account"
- go to "Interest" and select my Dividend category then tab across to the value field and enter the gross amount in Euros i.e. 1.87
- click "Enter" to enter the transaction in the ledger. KMyMoney prompts for the GBP equivalent which is 1.52

Now I have to add the tax deduction:

- edit the Dividend transaction just created
- click the "Split Transaction" icon next to "Interest"
- add the tax deduction in Euros, a value of -0.43
- again KMyMoney prompts for the GBP value is 0.35
- the Split Transaction now shows a total of 1.44 Euros
- Confusingly after entering the Split Transaction the Interest reads 1.17 AND the Total as €1.17.
- When the transaction is entered into the ledger it correctly shows the value as €1.44

However on switching to my bank account ledger it has an entry NOT for 1.17 GBP but for 1.44

I hope this makes sense, it is a bit complicated to explain!

Any suggestions or is this a bug, in which case I will submit a bug report?

Hello Nick

There was a recent fix in this area. What revision are you using? Are you able to compile from source?

Hello Allan,

I'm using version 4.6.6.

I have compiled from source in the past but now that I have all my finances in KMyMoney (and many years of data) I prefer to stick with the most recent stable release from the repositories.

I'll have a look at setting up a virtual environment for testing the latest version.

Thanks

Nick
