KMyMoney version 4.7.1 is now available. This version contains fixes for several bugs, here is a short list:
If you are still using 4.6.x to import your transactions and consider upgrading to 4.7.1 please note that transaction matching will take the payee into consideration. This means that payee matching rules might need to be setup to get matching working a expected. For a full list of the changes please check out the changelog. We highly recommend upgrading to 4.7.1. Hello again Cristian [season's greetings!]
In post viewtopic.php?f=69&t=123114 i asked about how might i [still relatively new to Linux (Mint 17 Qiana 64bit KDE Edition)] go about installing from the tarball, given my initial attempt failed with lots of errors i didn't understand. Given my inexperience, & the errors i summarised in that previous post, you advised me to await an official package in my distribution. I'm still waiting, & have no idea if it will ever come, so i began searching for other options. One option i researched was compiling the latest version from source code & installing it. However i am not brave enough to proceed with this, due to info like this i found: http://www.maximumpc.com/article/howtos ... urce_linux ... "When you compile from source, you are forcing your changes through safeguards meant to help protect your system's software integrity. This can be very dangerous if you have not taken the time to understand and estimate the repercussions this action may have". A potentially easier option for me: I found three separate sites all pointing to the same unofficial PPA... "ppa:claydoh/kmymoney2-kde4". I know how to add a PPA, & i am keen to proceed with this, BUT i have no idea if this PPA is safe to use. Are you able to comment on that at all pls? Thanks. Steffie. |

Hi Steffie,
When a package for Debian based distributions (like Mint) is not available we recomend using Clay Weber's PPA, so it's safe to use it. Regards, Cristian

Hi Cristian
Another really fast & helpful response from you -- THANKS!! My Linux Mint now happily runs KMM 4.7.1 -- yay!!! Clay's PPA is great [thanks Clay]; after my couple of months of fretting about HOW was i going to manage to get from 4.6.4 to 4.7.0, with your advice & Clay's PPA i was able now to jump straight to 4.7.1 totally pain-free. Fantastic. I wish i had discovered this PPA earlier. To echo earlier comments of mine [back when i was still using Win7], KMM is magnificent ![]() I'm just loving Linux, & very rarely find any reasons to boot back into Windows. Now that i have the latest KMM, there's even less desire to go back to the dark side ![]() One small query -- i might be blind & this might have been there always, but only now have i noticed a tab at the end of the tab row, called "Outbox". Its usage is currently not intuitive to me, & i didn't see a reference for it in Help. What is this tab pls? Many thanks once again. Steffie. |

AFAICR, the Outbox view is only used with the AqBanking plugin.

Hello Hei Ku
Aha! You are correct i think, coz after reading your advice i found that the KBanking plugin was selected in the Plugins tab of the KMM Settings [maybe it is activated by default?]. I have no desire to link my online banking directly to my KMM installation, so i de-selected this plugin, restarted KMM, & now that Outbox tab is no longer present. Excellent! Many thanks for your help. Steffie. |

I almost love this application. It is such a nice application for the one simple thing we use it for. We just tally up money in our cash register into a few categories. Is there anyway on the next release there can be one more option "DAILY" in the report organize drop down list. Maybe it's just as simple as copying the code from monthly or weekly and just changing the value to 1 day. Every day our cash register is tallied and we need to have the report broken down by day when we print out the week. Right now the Weekly report doesn't split the days up and exporting it is too complex for the lady who takes her time to do this.
Thanks to all the patience of all the developers ![]() |
