Upper Limits for accounts

Wed Jan 14, 2015 10:08 pm
Is there a way (and If not, I'd like to formally suggest/request this feature) to set a upper limit for an account? In other words, right now I can set a lower limit of say, $50, and a warning limit of $100. So when that acocunt gets to $100, it gives me a warning. When it hits $50, it persistantly tells me of the problem, letting me know I have run out of money. What I want, is a feature that I can set a limit of say $1,000. So when I reach that limit, it notifies me that it is as high as I want it to be.

My reason: I have multiple accounts set up for th many different things I have to pay as well as ones for savings. I put a certain amount toward savings first, and then what is left over after that and bills goes toward paying off debts such as an extra payment toward the house, or car, etc. When my savings fund hits the number I want ($1,000) I want to get a notification so that I can shift the savings money all into paying extra on my debts.

Obviously I can do this manually, by simply watching the account totals..but then, I can do that for the lower limits as well. And I would think it would be a reasonably simple thing to do as it is so similar to the lower limit function.

No, there is no such feature, and you are right it would be nice to have it.

The best way, IMHO, would be to have that as part of the budget. If the budgets were able to handle asset and liability accounts, it could trigger this kind of warnings.

I cannot promise when this can be developed, because developers' time is very limited at the moment.
