Hi,
I am evaluating KMyMoney 4.6.2 (Debian stable). I am using a german-language - so the exact naming of the english menue entries described below might not be exact ! In the ledger-view, I expect a extra column for the transaction category like : Nr. | Date |Category | ...... This view shall be possible, because when I go to the "Category" list and double click on a category, I get exactly this view inside the ledger-view, showing a column with the category name related to the bookings. I also found a checkbox in the "Settings - General - Filter" menue called something like "Show categories in Ledger-View" - but this had no effect ! A category column in the ledger-view would be very very advantegous, because I imported my old Gnucash accounts, and I want to reorganize my bookings. For example what I want to do is: 1. Select one account 2. search for specific bookings (e.g. "Amazon") 3. Sort the search results by the category column to find out which have been booked correctly and which not. How can I get a category column in the ledger-view ? |

You'd be better off using a report for what you want to do. For example, using the Transactions by category report, and customizing it for the search terms you want

Well, this helps for viewing the ledger and the bookings, but does not allow to edit the booking. It is very confusing/unclear in the current ledger-view, to get a good and quick overview of which bookings are booked to what category - too much information. Why does the wanted view show up on the ledger-view, when doubleclicking on the category inside the category view ![]() Where can I enter a feature request for this ? |

Go to Settings, ledger settings, and click the option to show extended information (I can't remember the exact name)
That should give you kind of what you want, showing all splits in the ledger view

Maybe this also helps:
If you go to "Settings", "Configure KMyMoney", "Register", "Sorting", you can add "Category" as a sorting key. If you push it to the top of the stack, all transactions in the ledger will be sorted according to their categories. |
