CSV export fails. bug?

Tue Jan 27, 2015 9:36 pm
Hi everyone,

First, I'd like to thank you for your work! :)
I started to test KMyMoney yesterday.. and I have my first problem.
I created a "placement account" for my shares. So, it created two accounts, one for the shares and the other for the withdraws/deposit.
When I try to export the "shares" account, it creates an " empty file " there is only the following sentence (in french ;)):
"Account Type:Placement
Date,Bénéficiaire,Montant,Account/Cat,Note,État,Numéro"

Export of the second account is working fine.

I think this is a bug, however, these accounts are linked eachothers. Indeed, when I bought some shares in the first it will add a withdraw entry into the second.
Do you have the same behaviour on your side?

Thanks

You are correct, the export of the investment account only contains the header. It is the same for QIF format. However, I am not sure this is a bug: the transactions in the investment account are in fact the same as the ones in the brokerage account. They are linked one-to-one, The brokerage account has the classical account operations, i.e. deposits, transfers, and withdrawals. A stock buy is entered in the brokerage account as a transfer to the investment account, and a stock sell is a transfer from the investment account. As a result, the brokerage account is the one that contains the full information of both accounts. Duplicating the entries might cause duplicates when re-importing.

At least, that's my guess.
