I recently added all student loans into KMyMoney. The only problem is, the only way I could figure out how to do this appropriately, is to have it make a transaction in my ledger as well. But of course, then I have this giant deposit in my account.

Is there another way to handle this that I'm missing?

Loans are entered as a new account of that type. See Chapter 16 of the manual. You should only need a ledger transaction for exceptional principal repayments.

Yes, I added them as a new account of that type. But it creates a new ledger entry in my checking account, as it seems to require to have to put it somewhere. I'm asking if there is a way to not do that, while still adding the proper amount in the loan.
