OFX import error

Thu Apr 16, 2015 3:15 am
I have Kmymoney (4.7.1) set up on several machines with either Win7 or Netrunner 14.1 (Kubuntu variant). I am able to import OFX files from my bank just fine on the Win7 machines, but receive this error message on the Netrunner/Kubuntu machines:

Unable to import (filename.OFX) using the OFX importer plugin. This file is not the correct format.

I tried the exact same file and was able to import to the Win7 version but not the Netrunner version. Other aspects of the program seem to work fine. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Re: OFX import error

Well I made some partial headway. The file I was trying to import was stored on a NTFS drive on a Windows server. Apparently the Linux machines did not read that file properly. When I copied the file over to an ext4 drive on a Netrunner machine, KMyMoney imported it without an error. So I can work around the problem, but it seems like a bug that KMyMoney (in a KDE Linux environment) can read and write datafiles (*.KMY) stored on a NTFS drive but fail to import *.OFX files stored on the same drive.

I am using Windows 10 and I found that if you have copied your OFX from another comp or downloaded it, windows 10 locks it.
To unlock simply right click on the OFX file and select "Properties" and at the bottom of the properties dialog box there is an unblock checkbox... makes sure it is checked and click Apply.

Hope it works 8)
