I've been using kmymoney for bank and credit card accounts for a year or so now, having migrated from Quicken. All working perfectly.
I would now like to extend my usage to include various investments, which I have not previously computerized. There's plenty of detailed information around on how to create such-and-such an account type, how to add an investment; but I'm having trouble figuring out how to use these object types; i.e. how exactly they map to real-world entities. Is there some sort of explanatory tutorial anywhere? Example: I have an account with a fund manager, in which I have holdings of several funds. In each fund, I hold a number of units, and there's a variable price per unit. I simply can't see how I should represent that in kmymoney. Should the fund manager be an "account", an "institution" or what? Is each fund holding an "account" or an "investment" (or something else)? ... |
