I keep getting an error message saying that I can't enter a transaction date prior to an account opening date, however, if I edit the account, the date showing is already prior to the transaction date. But if I print out a report for the account, it's showing the account opening date 2-3 weeks later. What's going on here? is there a fix for this?

Check the Opening Date for the category being used in the transaction. My guess is that it's later than the date of the of the transaction that you're attempting to enter.

I checked the category opening date, fixed it, and am still getting the message about the "account" opening date. It seems like the consistency checker has been inconsistent because I have been able to enter some transactions on the same date that is causing problems with others.

Turns out that you were right after all. I was apparently looking at the wrong categories opening date. Duh.

Thanks
