GnuCash Import Bugs

Fri Aug 07, 2015 2:53 pm
I am using the latest KMyMoney version on windows and I just imported my GnuCash file. I have about 7 or 8 split transactions in each paycheck entry. In the Checking Account ledger, the wrong name is appearing on the line for the paycheck. At the moment it is displaying the name of one of the accounts to which money was transferred as a split (my 401(k)). How can I edit the name? In other words, it says

No. Date.
8/1/2015 NAME 401(k)

And I want it to say

No. Date
8/1/2015 COMPANY NAME PAYCHECK (or something) ***

Is it possible that the name you see in the ledger is the first line of the splits, i. e. the first line you see when editing the splits? Maybe that's what the import does by default.

I tried using the search box to edit all names of a number of ledger entries collectively, but that did not seem to work. The Edit button is grayed out. However, you may have a chance going to the Payees page, look for "NAME 401(k)," right-click that, and select "Rename Payee". You can then change all of them to "COMPANY NAME PAYCHECK." Hopefully, that will work.
