Starting New in Kmymoney

I have been using Gnucash and Kubuntu for about 3 years. I want to use Kmymoney to keep an account of how I spend my Social Security Check. It is mainly house hold and utilities/ I tried to start by entering my monthly check as a deposit. I entered it and the reaccuring date the bank that recieves the deposit.When I try to ggo further iot disappears and I have to start over. Is there a step by step tutorial that I can look at to see how to manage, I am 83 and haave to see the steps to understand something.
