I'm curious about why there is no separate column for Category in KMM ledger view ...

Category and Memo data are included in the same column as Payee ...

I can't find a way to change this.

If I de-select the Ledger option "Show all register entries in full detail" no category info is visible
(except with ledger lens)

Are other users comfortable with this?

I've not found it to be a problem.

Obviously number of columns need to be limited or the ledger view becomes unmanageable.
How does lack of display of category in ledger view affect you?

If you are looking for specific categories in a ledger have you thought of running a report by category on specific ledgers?

OK, thanks for that assurance.

I guess I have just become used to seeing a category column.
I think can adapt to being without it!

The report idea is good.
And the option to sort the ledger by category is also great.

Thanks for the input.
The more I use KMM the more I like it

Categories are also a kind of account e.g. in GnuCash
They have their own kind of 'ledger' without the need for a report.

A category column in the ledger view wouldn't make much sense for me since most of my transaction have splitted categories.

Good point about the split transactions - I also have many of those.
As you say category column makes no sense for them

Although I have often wondered why the names of the categories are not displayed for split transactions.
I have never seen this done in any money app.
Instead of showing "Split" as the category why not show "Gas:Personal, Gas:Business" for example.
Maybe there is a good reason why this is not done, but it seems like a great idea to me!

I suppose this has potential formatting issues. The good thing is that the split categories are used correctly in reports and category ledgers.

True enough - that all works very well
