Hello. One thing I believe KMyMoney really needs in this day and age is some sort of reminder functionality for scheduled transactions. On the (likely very outdated) roadmap http://kmymoney2.sourceforge.net/release-plan.html#version_list it is a planned feature, saying regarding Bill Reminders

This is an applet that will run on the taskbar, (or a modified version of KMyMoney), and will monitor the KMyMoney file to create/modify any transactions that have been scheduled. It will prompt for any bills/deposits that are over due and allow the user to intervene if necessary. Or could be integrating with Kontact to add payment reminders to the user's KDE calendar, and rely on that program's ability to grab the user's attention.

Is this something what could be implemented in a reasonable fashion? I'm not for an applet, as outlined above, but I could see (3) scenarios that I think would be relatively easy to implement:

* Integration with Kontact's calendar, as outlined above. This would also allow easy use of Google Calendar, assuming the user has a need to sync with Google
* Use KAlarm. This would be super easy - Just require KAlarm as a KMyMoney dependency and use it to notify users when necessary. The only hiccup would likely be needing to have KAlarm running all the time and on start-up
* Using email - Either KMail or a built-in IMAP function in KMyMoney

What do you guys think?

KMyMoney does have a plugin that writes this kind of information into an ics file which can be imported into KOrganizer. Please check Settings/Configure KMyMoney/Plugins/iCalendar.
