I can't find how to show reconciled transactions in the ledger - as soon as I reconciled they were hidden, and I can only find a "Hide reconciled Transactions" button, and it does show them. What's with this? I need to see them - can somebody tell me how, as a search of the forum did not give me a solution.

I found it! And I really feel silly! But I clicked on the "Hide Reconciled Transactions" button many times and it did not restore the transactions. CTRL-R wouldn't work either. So I closed and opened the program again, still no luck. In the end, I pretended I was still using Windows and rebooted the box - and now it works.

But I had to reboot a Linux Mint box - what's with that?
