Hello,
Is it right that split transactions in the past are not possible ? I'll get the transactions about aqbanking ,they have a date in the past. When i edit this Transaction to a split-Booking, i can't save it. when i edit the Date to the todays date i can save. But I want to keep the old date is this possible? Regrads Sebastian |

No. Most imported transactions are in the past. Forbidding such splits would make no sense. I am not sure where the problem could be, but do check that your transactions are not older than the opening date of your account.

Depending on the version of KMyMoney not only the opening date of the accounts but also the one of the categories matters as well. They must not be later than the posting date of the transaction. Select the category in the category view, select Category/Edit Category and change the opening date to the first of the year or some such. In case this shows up for you only with split transactions then that is just a side effect.
This has been addressed in the master development branch already such that the opening date of categories does not get checked anymore and is not available to the user anymore. Hope that helps.

That was new to me! Testing this was indeed of very limited interest, if any. I would prefer to see an option to close a category, in the way you can close an account and hide it. An example: I have a category for car expenses, plus sub-categories such as maintenance&repairs, fuel, tax, insurance, parking, fines (eh, yes -- in my defense, only parking tickets so far). Since I want to know these expenses separately for both of our cars, I have two sets of these. Now, when I get rid of one car and buy a new one, I want to start a new expense set and close the other for good. |

You should take a look into the tag feature. Create a single account hierarchy and create a tag for each car. That's a lot easier. In case your not interested in the car anymore, just remove the tag (though I don't know if that can be done if it is still attached to a transaction). This will have the benefit that you won't loose any information either.
