Running kmymoney 4.7.2.

When I save the file on making changes, it produces an error.

Code: Select all
Consistency check result - KMyMoney
The consistency check has found some issues in your data. Details are presented below. Those issues that could not be corrected automatically need to be solved by the user.
  * Opening date of Account 'Opening Balances' cannot be changed to support transaction 'T000000000000000001' post date.
  * Transaction 'T000000000000000001' has a post date '01/01/1990' before one of the referenced account's opening date.
    Referenced accounts: Opening Balances
The post date was not updated to '01/04/2015'.
  * Transaction 'T000000000000000022' has a post date '16/08/2014' before one of the referenced account's opening date.
    Referenced accounts: Opening Balances
The post date was not updated to '01/04/2015'.

Finished: 0 problems corrected. 3 problems still present.

This is cryptic and impossible to understand. There is no 'Opening Balances' account.

How do I resolve it? How do I get this corrected?

The opening balances account is created in the background whenever an account with an opening balance is created. Here's how you can modify its opening date:
  • Open the ledger of one of the accounts with the opening balance on 01/01/1990.
  • Goto the top and select the the 'Opening Balances' transaction (should be the first one if sorted by date)
  • Select menu entry Transaction/Goto 'Opening Balances'
  • Select menu entry Account/Edit account... and modify the opening date of the Opening Balances account by setting it to 01/01/1990 or prior
  • Press OK
  • Save the file
  • Voilà
Hope that helps.
