I am a new convert from Quicken. I have gotten most things working. Now I am trying to make Kmy work even better than Quicken did for me by importing brokerage transactions as well as bank and credit card transactions. From reading the handbook it seems that I should be able to map the brokerage actions to Kmy actions via the "csvimporterrc" config file. When I try to do that the import wizard does not recognized the action and pops up an info message "The values in the columns you have selected do not match any expected investment type". It is objecting to action "TXPDDV" which I have mapped to ShrsinParam as follows:
greg@HAL-KDEVM ~ $ grep Param /home/greg/.kde/share/config/csvimporterrc BrokerageParam=check,payment,bill payment,dividend,interest,qualified div,foreign tax paid,adr mgmt fee BuyParam=buy DivXParam=dividend,DIV IntIncParam=interest,income,INT ReinvdivParam=reinvest,reinv,re-inv RemoveParam=remove SellParam=sell,repurchase ShrsinParam=add,stock dividend,divd reinv,transfer in,re-registration in,journal entry,TXPDDV,DRIP The only option at this point is to abandon the import. What am I missing? Any advice appreciated. Greg Running Linux Mint 18.3 KDE, Kmymoney 4.8.0 |

I converted from Quicken last May to KMyMoney so maybe I can help you. BTW I'm very glad I converted today. Can you clarify something for me? Are you trying to bring the Quicken info to KMyMoney or are you trying to import the transactions from your banks/brokers?

I am starting new with Kmy so I have download brokerage transactions as a .csv file and am trying to setup the import into Kmy. I thought action in CAPS may have something to do with problem but the following config works the same (cannot get past transaction with TXPDDV as action from brokerage). All actions from brokerage seem to be in CAPS.
greg@HAL-KDEVM ~ $ grep Param /home/greg/.kde/share/config/csvimporterrc BrokerageParam=check,payment,bill payment,dividend,interest,qualified div,foreign tax paid,adr mgmt fee BuyParam=buy DivXParam=dividend,div,txpddv IntIncParam=interest,income,INT ReinvdivParam=reinvest,reinv,re-inv RemoveParam=remove SellParam=sell,repurchase ShrsinParam=add,stock dividend,divd reinv,transfer in,re-registration in,journal entry,DRIP |

When I added transactions from accounts that were in Quicken I did it with the QFX feature built within KMyMoney. First I exported a individual account from Quicken then imported them into KMyMoney.
If I need to get transactions from a broker or a bank I would do the same. Export the transaction via QFX then import them into KMyMoney. I think you might find this a little easier to do. |

Unfortunately the only option supported for downloading transactions from all my brokers is .csv, and the formats for each broker are unique, so the csv has to be massaged to something Kmy understands. Even if I change the action to that defined in the default csv profile like "dividend" the import complains. Weird. I must be missing something very basic, or this plugin is broken...

I haven't used CSV very much so I don't have the experience base behind your support needs.
I did Googled "CSV Import KMyMoney" and I also did a search on the topic of CSV on this board. There is information and resolution on issues regarding CSV. You might try this as well and see what others have done. Sorry I couldn't be more of help to you. |

I am not 100% sure, but the CSV im-/exporter has been overhauled in the master branch of KMyMoney. The release 5.0 which will contain these changes is scheduled for early February (see the release plan for details. Maybe, it solves your problems or helps to get the data loaded. Anyway, there are no plans to put more work into the 4.8 branch of the CSV im-/exporter. Depending on your experience you can try to compile it from source if you like. I am not sure, when a distro packaged update will hit Mint. Anyway, KMyMoney 5.0+ will require KF5.

Thanks for trying. I see 4.8.1 has some fixes for .csv files, so I'll try that next.

I checked that and it might help you. I was talking about the difference between the 4.8 branch (so 4.8.1+ at the time) and the 5.0 branch, which shows more changes that were not backported to the 4.8 branch.

Well, I just installed 4.8.1.1 from source and the issue remains. The wizard seems to work fine, but when I go to import the CSV, Kmymoney objects to the type, and that type is in ~/.kde/share/config/csvimporterrc . All the options to replace the type with a valid one are greyed out., so the only option is to abort the import. It almost looks like kmy is not processing the csvimporterrc config file.

I have to admit, that I currently concentrate on getting 5.0 out the door. Maybe the de-facto maintainer for the 4.8 branch can take a look and give some advice.

Thanks for making this great software. I will definitely look into v5 when it is available.
I don't think the csv import for investment transactions ever worked or was ever tested in this version based on the following testing. I deleted the csvimporterrc file, created a 1 line transaction .csv file using an action in the sample Merril Lynch template, on import selected the M-L template, mapped the fields and still get the same error "The values in the columns you have selected do not match any expected investment type", and all other types from the drop down menu are greyed out. |

Can you create a bug entry for branch master on our bug tracker and attach that one line demo file you created as well as instructions what you do and what you expect in the end. That would be greatly appreciated. TIA.
