For taxation purposes, I need to know how much my investments are worth on January 1, April 1, July 1, and October 1 of each year. However, the ledger for investment accounts in KMM only shows balances for each security, not the total value of the investments. Obviously I can calculate the total value by taking the sum of (security price)*(security balance) at any given date, but is there an easier way to do that?

You can customize a report to select the accounts (investments) and dates that you need.

Thank you, that is indeed a workable solution.

Is it possible to configure the report to only show the value at the beginning of each quarter? Quarterly resolution seems to only show the value at the end of the quarter, and daily resolution of course also shows every other date of the year.

I suppose I could make it show the value at the end of the previous quarters relative to those I am actually interested in, but the values at the end of one quarter and the beginning of the next are not always guaranteed to be the same.

There are many variables you can select for reports and quarterly reporting is 1 of them. The tricky part of what you are asking would be the pricing based on when the report is pulled as you noted. The challenge would require some manual input of prices but I believe it could be done.
