I didn't think it was possible but after 20 years of using MS Money, I've finally migrated away and have been quite pleased with KMyMoney 4.8. The only thing nagging at me is I really miss the Spending by Category pie chart that was on the home page on MS Money (see below for example). I analysed those percentages daily. Is there any way to replicate that chart in KMyMoney? I have searched the web and tried and tried but I can't figure it out.

I believe you can get what you're asking by using the Income and Expense Graph in Reports. You need to change some of the standard settings in Configure. FIrst, uncheck all the income items in the Category tab. Next, change the chart type to Pie in the Chart tab. Then select the date range you're looking for in the Range tab. Change the report name and mark it as a favorite for future viewing. Also, note on the left-hand side you can easily switch between the report and the graph to look at the details. You can also drill up and down the level you want to look at on the graph by going to the Rows/Column tab and selecting the different offerings located within the detail pull down.

Welcome to KMM. I switched from Quicken which I was on since 1993 last May and really enjoy using this program. The development team has done a great job including developing a program that runs faster than Quicken in my opinion.

Now teach me something, how did you insert the image? I'd post the image of the report I created but I don't know how.

Thanks mcarpino, I've played with that chart a little but have not been successful. But I'll try again with your suggestions.

To insert the image, use the Img formatting block and put your link in between. Or you can just type [img]"link%20here"[/img]. For the image I just did a Google search looking for something that was 720 pixels or less.

Well I did get closer:



I wish there was
1) better delineation between the wedges. I selected "show grid lines" but that doesn't seem to do it.
2) the wedges were from largest to smallest going clockwise, i.e. sorted,
3) labels were percentages not dollars, and/or hovering with the mouse showed the expense category and percentage.

I don't think there is any current way to achieve those three issues. Any place that I can suggest them?
