I've been away since early February thus unable to follow KMyMoney progress. Before I left, v5.x Linux had been released and a Windows version was being worked on.What progress has been made on the Windows build?

It would be really good to get a response from someone on this as to whether the windows version is still being upgraded or is this the end of the road for it.
Thanks |

It certainly is not the end of the road for it. One of the 5.0 design goals was to bring KMyMoney to more platforms than just Linux. The dev team did a great job in that together with other KDE folks, namely sysadmin and some help of the Craft project. Feel free to visit KMyMoney CI build status to see that KMyMoney builds not only for Linux, but also for FreeBSD and Windows. Mac OSX is also on the list but a beast of its own.
But there is a difference between building and compiling the source code and creating an install-able package for the end-user. And in that respect, Windows is very different from Linux distros as the KMyMoney package may need much more than just KMyMoney but also a lot of KDE base software. The KMyMoney project's goal is to deliver the source code and to concentrate on that. Converting that source code into a package is what is missing here. In case someone steps up and says "Hey, I go a ahead and take care of setting up the packaging with KDE's craft project for MS-Windows" we are certainly to help this person and get closer to this installer.

Hi,
What would be the requirement for someone to start helping in this matter? And how much time do we need to invest for someone who knows how to compile, Jenkins, Linux and a bit of Windows? Did KMyMoney changed so much that the previous packaging needs reworking for 5.x? Thanks. |

Hi, no help is needed right now. We have working KMyMoney 5 on MS Windows (and soon on MacOS as well). We need some time to do finishing work and find out how to distribute it. Please stay tuned. |

Are the versions build in CI not full windows version?
Can't we just grab one of these? |

There are a few users that would like to look a windows pre-release with whatever caveats are required. Can we get some instructions for looking at it?

For the brave among you, I keep a copy of the latest available daily builds of master on my cloud server. They will be updated once a day when a new version is build. Three versions including their SHA256 checksum files are present:

I installed the MSVC version a while ago. Following installation, pricing updates would not work. Each time I tried to update pricing for currency or Funds errors were received. These errors were posted in a previous message. No resolution was found so I abandoned 5 and went back to 4.8.2. Earlier this week I thought I'd try 5 again. I DLed and installed the MSVC version. Along with the problems experienced earlier, I also found that; - OFX files downloaded from various financial institution do not import; an error window opens indicating the file cannot be found. The error message identifies the file name with the path to the file listed twice (C:/USRS/Robert/Downloads C:/USRS/Robert/Downloads/activities.qfx)\. Is this double pathing the reason why the file cannot be imported? - No ICON appears next to Investments or Reports in tab view. A few ICONs are missing from the Configuration window. With all these errors I'm wondering if there's other modules or applications that need to be installed in order for v5 to work on a Windows 10 Pro PC? With appreciation Robert |

There was a problem with the Update Pricing module that reportabley was fixed on Friday Oct 5. I dropped by the cloud server this morning, Oct 7, to D/L a windows version of the update only to find the mingw version I'm after is a couple of days old. Please advise when it will be updated to include bug fix 399378 (https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=399378) |

Please feel free to visit the KMyMoney build status page. The last two rows contain links to those builds with much more information. The stable version currently uses the 5.0 branch and the unstable is based on the master branch of the git repository. The windows builds should have the fix in question. Please let me know if it still does not work by reopening bug 399378. I could not test the change in a windows environment.
The stuff on my cloud server is just a copy of the above and I will drop the service soon. So please adjust your links.

The problem remains. I've reopened the bug report and update the log portion. |
