Ever since MS Money was discontinued I've been watching for an open-source alternative that would be a good replacement. Having periodically tried nearly a dozen or so options over the last 10 years, I never could find something that was on-par with my experience in Money...that was until this year. Kmymoney has finally matured enough to sway me from my beloved Money. In fact, it many ways it is now much better than Money; so kudos to all that helped to make this program great!

At this point I've fully transferred over my accounts, have used the program for three months and would like to share feedback from my experience to further improve the program. However, I don't know where to begin; namely is this the correct place to post ideas and offer support? I didn't see a dedicated place for kmymoney ideas. This my first time ever getting involved with the open-source community and I don't want to start by making a total noob mistake.

I've got ideas, technical documentation experience and have programmed in C (albeit many years ago); so I'd love to help if I can.

Cool, The reason for developing KMyMoney has similar roots.

You did everything right, which is: if you don't know, ask. The forum is one place to drop ideas and ask but the developers usually use the mailing list at kmymoney-devel@kde.org intensively. In my eyes, that would be the best place to get started.

We do program KMyMoney in modern C++ and - as you might have noticed - use the Qt cross platform library and KDE frameworks to support us. Currently, there's only a single person working on documentation (with intermittent help of others now and then) but I am sure, that any help is appreciated. Coordination again over the mailing list.

Tell us about your ideas. Maybe, similar ones already exist. I am sure, they will not only serve you but also other users. See you on the mailing list.

Thanks! I've sent some ideas to the mailing list.
