Is there a database conversion as part of the update from v4.8 to v5.0?

My database is on networked storage. My wife and I access it from multiple machines running multiple OS. To date, we've had great success running multiple v4.x versions without any negative results.

I'm cautious about the upgrade to v5 ... does the major release upgrade make any changes to the database structure? If so, I'll coordinate upgrading all of our systems at the same time. If there's no real db changes, I'll upgrade linux machines now, and let her keep accessing via 4.x on her Win machine.

Looks like I'm the only one mixing multiple versions. No worries, bc it works!

From a purely black-box, unscientific, hit-it-with-some-bricks test, it's successful. I have the .kmy database hosted on a file server in the house. Multiple machines, multiple OS, multiple versions of KMyMoney have successfully shared that db for years. The success continues now. :-)

TO BE CLEAR ... this was in no way a complete test. You may or may not be so lucky. Make many backups.

Currently implemented systems, playing nicely together:
  • Win 10, KMyMoney v4.6.2 via KDE v4.8
  • Fedora 27, KMyMoney v4.8.0-8
  • Fedora 28, KMyMoney v5.0.1-3
