My KMyMoney ledger, or rather underneath the ledger where the balance is, shows Cleared: 3,958.11

However in the ledger itself, there are no cleared transactions, and I've scrolled back through years. This, of course, makes it difficult to reconcile. Any ideas?

KMyMoney has an option to hide transactions that were posted before a certain date. Do you have this activated? See the user manual for more filter options. Oh, and reconciled transactions count as cleared as well.

While reconciled posts are technically "cleared", they do not show up as "Cleared" below the register. (otherwise it would be a separate problem of why my cleared balance is not in the tens of thousands, as I've used KmyMoney for probably 10 years or more.)

My reconciled transactions are not hidden, and when I do hide them, it doesn't change the "cleared:" value. I'd show you a screenshot, but I can't figure out how to insert an image on this thread.

Also, if I click to filter by cleared status, the ledger shows no transactions, but the "Cleared:" value remains.

Just noticed another symptom in the reconciliation wizard. The "Previous Balance" field is grayed out and incorrect. That may be my problem, but I don't know how to fix it.

The shown value is based on the transactions found in the account about to be reconciled, their value and status. Here's what I found in the source code:

Based on experience, one usually has some non-cleared/non-reconciled transactions with a date prior to the start date of the statement.
