I have recently upgraded my computer from Ubuntu 16.04 to 18.04.1 . KMyMoney appeared to be working ok until I needed to add a new investment. All the fields for "Buy Shares" are filled in and the value correctly computed from the number of shares and price but the only option for action is "Cancel" . "Enter" and "Accept" remain greyed out.

I opened a new file and tried again but got the same result. The KMyMoney version is given as 5.00 from "Help" and 5.0.1-2 from the Ubuntu download.

Could it be that I have to do a clean install of Ubuntu 18.04 instead of the upgrade process? Nothing else has been a problem since the upgrade.

I recently answered a very similar questions on the user mailing list as follows:
The version mismatch is a known problem. You then have 5.0.1.

No, apparently this is a problem of the KMyMoney version that came with 18.04 and has nothing to do with 18.04 itself. A new install will not help. I think it has been fixed in the meantime but don't find a reference to a documented bug right now.

Here's what you can try:

a) Make a backup of your data in case anything goes wrong
b) Download the KMyMoney appimage from https://binary-factory.kde.org/job/KMyM ... age_Build/ This contains a nightly build of the master branch.
c) Make the file executable with "chmod +x kmymoney--.....appimage"
d) Execute it with "./kymoney--....appimage" from a terminal
e) Check if the problem persists or not and report back
f) Make the necessary changes and save the file
g) Check if your installed version still works

Hope that helps.

Hope that helps you as well.

Thank you - I did as you suggested but the entry of the new investment remains stalled with "Cancel" as the only action.

Incidentally the download of the nightly build was very unstable and bombed out in Google Chrome twice. I then used "wget -c https://binary-factory.kde.org/job/KMyM ... 4.appimage" : it came in chunks with many restarts but the final count was correct and the program read my data ok.
